Psychologist Dr Geir Jordet spent 5 years watching footage of every shootout in every major international men's tournament for the past half-century. Firstly, what an achievement that is in itself!

Here’s what everybody can learn from the most tense few minutes in sports, according to recent Wall Street Journal article featuring his research:

⚽ A shootout is a collective effort

⚽ It's both a mind game and a team sport

⚽ The amount of pressure felt before a shootout was an indicator of their success

⚽ Those who hurried through penalties missed more than those who took enough time to slow down and compose themselves

⚽ Penalty shootouts require teamwork.

⚽ The reaction of other players can shape the events on the field - good and bad - through emotional contagion.

⚽ A player simply celebrating a goal increases the entre team's chances of winning a shootout. The bigger the celebration, the better!

⚽ Teammates make penalty shootouts feel less isolating. Communicate, talk, move, be present for others.

While this is football specific, you can see where there are crossovers for your own sport, but also organisations too.

Morning morning! It's challenge day! For those that have been following Jon's journey, today is his epic challenge to cycle to every Hall and Woodhouse pub in Dorset (around 350km)!

It's going to be another hot one in Dorset today so they set off really early (03:30!)

They're heading to The Duchess at Poundbury (one of my favourites!) should arrive there around 05:21.

Do send them messages of support, leave comments on here too and I'll make sure they get them.

Being physically fit is obviously a huge part of the challenge, but equally being mentally prepared is just as important, which is of course very appropriate to focus on given the two charities Jon has chosen to raise funds for - @dorsetmind
and @sportinmind I'll be talking throughout the day about the importance of sports for mental health.

One way you can support the guys and keep their spirits high is by sharing their journey on your social channels, commenting, liking and sharing their posts, and of course donating to the fundraiser (link in Jon's bio, we have two pages one for each charity).

We're so incredibly proud of our aligned athlete @triathlon_worldrecord_andy who completed his Guinness world record challenge - 70x70.3 mile triathlons.

He's been working with our creator @drrosiemead for the past year on mindset and mental resilience. The challenge has well and truly shown that this type of thing isn't just about physical performance, but it's a huge mental challenge too.

Absolutely epic achievement and Andy pushed his way through each obstacle as they came up. His determination and drive propelled him to get to that finish line.
